最后一次出海捕鱼，他抓到了一条大鱼，可是在回港途中，他遭到了鲨鱼袭击。他毅然拿起鱼叉捍卫自已辛苦得来的劳动成果。虽然最后大鱼被鲨鱼吃得只剩下了白色的骨架。但他在与鲨鱼斗争的过程中表现出的毅力、勇气以及永不放弃的精神，就是他精神上的胜利。
